Google as a Paid Service

With changes from Google you may be looking for a place for your data.

To help with this we are looking at offering services to meet this unfortunit new need.

u

Why is this happening?

Google has been saying for a while that all their unlimited accounts will no longer be unlimited.

This is them finally setting the price.

Every 10TB over their limit is going to cost $300 a month.

u

How do I get my files?

First, go to your Drive and delete what is not needed.
Do the same to your emails.

Log in to your campus account.

Follow this link.
https://takeout.google.com/

Choose what you want to download.

Wait for an email saying your download is ready Go back and download the zip files to a storage device.

Can I buy data for my gmail account?

Yes, you can buy data for your gmail.com account.

Login to your Gmail account and follow this link.
https://one.google.com/about/plans

The 2TB account costs $12.00 a month.

u

How come I am using so much?

Go to Google Drive, and on the bottom left, click on the cloud Icon.

This will then show you your largest files.

Generally, your largest files will be videos and zip files, followed by photos.

What do your needs look like?

These accounts can be shared across several devices; my wife and I share one, so all our photos end up in the same place.

As a google reseller, I can offer you the same price and you get me to help technically.

Business Standard

  • $12.00 / Month ($152/year inc vat)
  • Custom and secure business email
  • 150 participant video meetings + Recording
  • 2 TB storage per user
  • Security and management controls
  • Support with ainet.biz (me)

If you only have a few hundred GB of storage, this is your best account.

Business Plus

  • $18.00 / Month ($227/year inc vat)
  • Custom and secure business email + eDiscovery, retention
  • 500 participant video meetings + recording, attendance tracking
  • 5 TB storage per user*
  • Enhanced security and management controls, including Vault and advanced endpoint management
  • Support with ainet.biz (me)

Enterprise Plus

  • There is the possibility for accounts needing 10 to 20TB, I have a call in to Google on that for a price.
  • Support with ainet.biz (me)

* Google Workspace provides flexible pooled storage per user that is shared across the organization. Enterprise plan customers have 5 TB of pooled storage per user.
Once you go over the 5GB, there is a little room for literacy, but you will need to buy another second account to pool your storage from the first account with the allocation of storage from the second account.
This is still far cheaper than $300 a month per 10TB.

Transferring Files

I have just confirmed a way to move ownership of Google Drive files across Domains.

Previously Google said this was not possible.

Transfereing

The account that is going to own the File needs to be more than a Business Starter with only 30GB of drive space.

Google Business Standard (2TB, $12/month) and Google Business Plus (5TB, $18/month) allow you to do this.

  • Get your Administrator to make your user a ‘Drive Folder Transfer Admin.’ They should know what that means.

  • Old Account with too much data.
  • In the Google account that has the data, create a Google Shared Drive.
  • Invite the account that WILL owns the files into this Shared Drive as a Manager (Not a content manager).
  • In the account that owns the files, MOVE the Folders from My Drive to this Shared Drive.
  • You may only be able to do a root folder at a time before having to do the steps below.
  • If you get an error saying folders can not be moved, you did not do the first step of this Bullet list.

  • In the New Account.
  • In the account, you are moving the folds too.
  • Open the Shared Drive as in the picture to the left.
  • Open the shared drive so you can see the folders inside.
  • Click and Hold and Move a Folder up to the My Drive area and release.
  • You will be asked if you want to Move
  • Answer Yes.

  • The Folder will be moved out of the Shared Drive.
  • The Old user will lose all access to this folder and files.
  • Your old account will no longer be billed for the excess data of the folder moved.

I provide this for those thinking they need to buy a Google Business Plus (5TB, $18/month) account.
